Compliance Services

The last thing you want to hear is that the Department of Labor is in your lobby to perform an audit.

That’s why McGohan Brabender maintains a retainer relationship for you with Paul Routh, Attorney at Law. Mr. Routh specializes in ERISA and employee benefit law, and is the author of Welfare Benefits Guide: Health Plans and Other Employer Sponsored Benefits. His primary purpose is to provide you with legal assistance when you need it.

Mr. Routh is located at our corporate address but is not a McGohan Brabender employee. He is an independent lawyer who is on retainer for McGohan Brabender clients. This arrangement is in place to avoid any conflict issues and to ensure that Mr. Routh is working entirely on our clients’ behalf and in their best interests.

Assistance to clients includes, but is not limited to:

• Assistance with the annual filing requirements (i.e. Form 5500s) under ERISA
• Legal/technical assistance with COBRA and HIPAA issues; FMLA and/or other legislation affecting employee benefit plans; Cafeteria/Section 125 Plans
• Review of insurance or other service contracts, Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, and Compliance Audits
• Counseling clients on specific issues

In addition to the above services, McGohan Brabender provides bi-weekly compliance updates to our clients in an easy-to-read and understand format.

When the need arises, McGohan Brabender will send out Flash Updates - time sensitive information that requires our clients' immediate action.
