Dependent Audits

Employers continue to seek ways to eliminate unnecessary costs and waste within their health plans. One means that's increasingly popular is conducting a "dependent eligibility audit." In short, this requires all employees to provide proof that any dependents for which they wish to purchase insurance under their employer-provided group health plan are, in fact, eligible for that coverage.

McGohan Brabender offers four tiers of dependent audit verification:

1. The employee is required to sign off confirmation that dependents on their medical are authorized dependents. This is the equivalent of an amnesty audit.

2. The employee is required to sign off confirmation that dependents on their medical are authorized dependents, and provide documentation for overage dependents.

3. All of the above plus spouse documentation.

4. A “full court press” audit in which multiple pieces of documentation are required for all dependents (i.e., financial documentation, birth and marriage certificates). With this audit, be careful what you wish for because you will find some shocking results!

Additional information, pricing and timelines are available on the above services by contacting McGohan Brabender Enrollment Services.
