MB History & Culture: From Yesterday to Tomorrow

McGohan Brabender was founded in 1972 by Patrick L. McGohan as McGohan and Associates. McGohan and Associates first operated as an independent life and health agency. Following consecutive years of growth with group insurance lines in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, Timothy T. Brabender, a respected specialist in group insurance, joined McGohan and Associates as a shareholder. In 1985, the company name was changed to McGohan Brabender, Inc. Since that time, the company has cultivated its niche in the group insurance and employee benefits marketplace. Six additional shareholders and nearly 100 employees later, McGohan Brabender is established as one of the largest independent employee benefits brokerage agencies in the country.

Our Employees Make the Difference
McGohan Brabender understands the importance of a quality, well-educated group of employees. Our workforce consists of former insurance carrier executives, ancillary specialists, seasoned financial analysts, veteran benefit brokers, and service care professionals. Additionally, McGohan Brabender engages the services of an in-house ERISA attorney who represents the client directly. This global team approach allows McGohan Brabender to look at your entire benefits picture- not just a small segment of it. By understanding how each small, but integral piece impacts another, we are proactive to your employees’ needs.

MB2
In 2003, McGohan Brabender implemented a bold, long-term growth and vision strategy for the organization called MB2. Key components of MB2 included:

> The establishment of a specialized team to tackle client claims, billing and enrollment issues 
> The creation of a team that would better meet the specialized needs of the small market population
> Growth of marketing/communications department to expand its offerings in web-based technology programs, online enrollment capabilities, and multimedia communication

In a matter of a few years, McGohan Brabender has fulfilled the MB2 vision—and the evidence of that is clear. The company is now proud to present its very own Customer Care Team for claims, billing and enrollment issues. We have also successfully implemented the MB Small Business Team, featuring specialized account managers and service reps dedicated to meeting those small-market needs. In addition, the Client Services and Communication Team has worked dilligently to create a broad spectrum of print, web and multimedia-based products and services that will bring lasting value to organizations of all sizes.

As the results of MB2 prove, McGohan Brabender is constantly evolving. Today, MB provides brokerage, account management, consulting and communication services to over 1,200 public and private employer groups in the Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus regions. The brokerage and consulting services are provided by a staff of 100-plus full-time professionals- all experts in their chosen field of work. Each of our clients is assigned to a specific team to ensure personal, responsive service. Other McGohan Brabender staff work to offer employer groups ongoing value-added services- all working off the talents and energy of each other to create a unique synergy.
