What is your professional background before MB?

Brett: Before coming to McGohan Brabender, I worked at Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School for over seven years as the Director of Admissions and three years as the Associate Director of Ministry and Services for campus ministry. I enjoyed working in education because I was given the opportunity to make a difference in kids’ lives and was professionally challenged since the education industry is constantly changing.

Why did you make the change to health insurance?

Brett: I enjoy jobs that are challenging and dynamic, and I know the world of healthcare is always changing. I learned about all the challenges of working in the healthcare industry, so I ultimately decided to make an industry change because I wanted to better challenge myself professionally and personally.

What is your favorite MB event?

Brett: I really enjoy the monthly all-employee meetings because of the high energy and having the opportunity to meet coworkers from the different offices. Scott’s inspirational message at the end of the meetings boosts my motivation for the upcoming weeks. It’s a much different feel from the meetings in education.

What are you determined to do?

Brett: I’m determined to be an excellent provider for my family. My wife and four-year-old son, Oliver, are my biggest motivator. They inspire me to be a better person and have more self-worth with a better quality of life.

How does your background relate to healthcare?

Brett: The education and healthcare industries are similar because they’re constantly changing because of policies and regulations. I was in pursuit of sales in my former role and increased admissions by 17% in an industry that has not recently seen growth. I accomplished the goal I set for myself and was ready to move on to an industry similar to education, one that’s challenging and dynamic.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Brett: My family loves being outside! My wife is a runner and has a goal of completing 50 half marathons in 50 states. So we travel state to state in our RV and camp at state parks close to her races.
