This course provides an overview on the rights, responsibilities, and provisions of the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), as well the basics of managing interactions between the FMLA, other applicable state and/or company leave provisions, and short-term disability (STD) under the banner of holistic Absence Management within an organization. This course provides a breakdown of the fundamental concepts behind the FMLA, such as eligibility and entitlement, as well as broad employee and employer responsibilities, key definitions, and important variables in administration that can differ from employer to employer. Finally, an overview of the ADA is included, particular to the ability to provide additional leave as an accommodation.

About the Speaker: Mary Boal, Senior Claims Consultant
As Senior Claims Solutions Consultant for Lincoln Financial Group, Mary supports our internal claims organization along with our sales teams to help drive interest in our Absence Management offering. In her current role she provide guidance and helps builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal/external customers including claim management, account managers, sales offices, brokers and clients.
Before joining the Lincoln team in 2015, Mary was a Sr. Account Executive for Reed Group. In that role she developed strategic account plans to elevate program results and meet performance commitments for customers with absence management, short and long term disability plans. She fostered significant relationships with customers in offering best practice management in their lines of coverage.
Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree In Communications from Regis University, in Denver, Colorado, where she currently lives with her family.
