Sometimes you have a good day and sometimes it’s a not so good day. But, sometimes, it’s a “Not So Good, Very Bad, Horrible, Awful, Who Has it Out For Me?!” day. Everyone has those days and sometimes they aren’t far and few between and frankly…it stinks! What really stinks is that, occasionally, there’s no reason as to why we feel as bad as we do. We have bad days just because and there isn’t any logic to it and you know what?
That’s OKAY!
When we do have those kinds of days, we have to stay mindful of how our moods are projected onto other people. Personally, when I’m having a bad day, I try to keep my mood up with music and meditation.
If you aren’t sure what works for you or if you are sure what works for you… and you’re just looking for new ideas, take a look at the list below and remember these things when it’s just one of “those days.”
1: Be The Energy You Want To Attract
I know, I know. It’s easier said than done, right? Well it’s no secret that happy, positive people want to be around happy, positive people. I have a bad habit of getting stuck in a funk and pushing it out to the others around me. You might get the mentality of “Well, if I’m having a bad day, everyone else is going to have a bad day too.” While this is satisfying for a total of three seconds, it ends up making you feel even worse for hurting the people around you. You’re also almost guaranteed to feel even worse than you did before. Don’t let a bad five minutes make it a bad day or even a bad week. You don’t want that negative energy… so why would anyone else want it?
2: Music Makes Your Mood Go ‘Round
I have never been in a mood that couldn’t automatically be improved by music. There are dozens of streaming services out there with already made playlists and even some that can analyze what kind of music you like to make a custom playlist! “IHeartRadio”, “Pandora”, “Spotify” and even “YouTube” are great places to get started on a positive playlist that can make you smile. Spotify even has a feature that allows you to pick through songs by mood and genre. So, whether you’re in the mood for some Summer Jams, Happy Hits, Confidence Boost, or even some Lo-Fi Beats to get you focused, there’s a perfect playlist out there.
3: Laugh Till It Hurts
Alright, I’m going to hit you with a cliche. Ready?
Laughter is the BEST medicine.
As cliche as it sounds, it’s true. If you’re laughing, you’re living and who doesn’t like to laugh? Try to learn to not take yourself so seriously. Take a break and watch a short funny video. Laugh at yourself. Surround yourself with people who make you laugh and allow you to be silly because life is infinitely better when you’re laughing.
4: Take a Social Media Hiatus
Social media is a highlight reel of your life! It can make you feel proud, excited and joyful…but it can also make you feel sad, envious and just plain ‘ol bad. Unfortunately, social media affects many people in negative ways and it can even be damaging to your mental health. It can give people a false sense of being “social” with others and affects our mood all day long. Try to put down the electronics and get back to the basics with your favorite book, board game, or outdoor activity. So break out the cards and put that phone on do not disturb…you’re on vacation!
5: Sweat Out The Negativity
