Welcome back to #WellnessWednesday! Last week, I introduced you to the Fitbit products in the wearable technology department. Moving on to our next comparison  The Apple Watch Series 3 vs. the Apple Watch Series 6. There are some similarities between Fitbit’s wearable technology and Apple’s wearable technology. A lot of it comes down to compatibility though. If you have an iPhone an Apple Watch might be something you want to look into. Just remember, when you take a bite of the apple, it’s hard to turn back!

What sets the Apple Watch Series 3 Apart from the Fitbit Versa 3:

  • Both the Apple Watch Series 3 and 6 have LTE capability, letting you use data to utilize the internet on the go.
  • The Apple Watch Series 3 has a bigger touch screen.
  • The Apple Watch Series 3 has a Dual-core S3 SiP to make it run faster.

Let’s talk about the features that both the Apple Watch Series 3 and Series 6 have in common.

  • Both track health data (heart rate, calories burned, steps, etc.)
  • Both have a retina display
  • Both are water-resistant up to 50 m.
  • Both have high and low heart rate notification capability
  • Both have Apple Pay
  • Both have Bluetooth Capability
  • Both have access to the App Store to download thousands of apps

The Apple Watch Series 3 comes in at the price of $199, which is one added positive. With this price tag though you do have to give up some features. Next, we will cover the key differences between the Apple Watch Series3 and Series 6. One of the key differences between the two is case size options. The Apple Watch Series 3 comes in 38- or 42-mm cases, whereas the Apple Watch Series 6 comes in 40- or 44-mm cases. Another key difference between the two is that the Apple Watch Series 3 only utilizes part of the screen, whereas the Series 6 utilizes the entire screen. The Apple Watch Series 3 screen in 312 by 390 pixels, whereas the Apple Watch Series 6 screen is 324 by 394 pixels. This is just a minor difference, but if you are someone who needs pictures to be bigger to see, I would go with the Series 6.

One major difference between the Apple Series 3 and the Series 6 is the price. The Series 6 comes in at the price of $399. I know this $200 price jump can cause some sticker shock, so let me explain some of the neat features the Apple Watch Series 6 has to offer. The Apple Watch comes in 3 types of materials and finishes: Aluminum, Stainless Steel, and Titanium. The Apple Watch Series 6 also comes in a multitude of colors as opposed to the plain Silver and Space Gray options for the Series 3. One extremely interesting feature of the Apple Watch Series 6 is its ability to read your blood oxygen levels. The Series 6 also has an ECG app to monitor your heart rate. One feature that might be important to the older demographic is the Series 6’s fall detection. If your Apple Watch detects that you have taken a hard tumble, it will automatically call emergency services for you. Some other features of the Series 6 include a louder speaker, more storage capability, and a compass.

It all comes down to what you want out of your watch. If you want all the bells and whistles, then the Apple Watch Series 6 is for you. If you want the ability to just call and text from your wearable technology, the Series 3 is the best option!
